Parent Teacher Organization

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has three main objectives:

  • Facilitate communication with administration
  • Provide voluntary service to the school
  • Initiate recreational and fundraising activities.

Our efforts are coordinated with staff and faculty to maximize benefits to the entire school. Parents and faculty members are automatically PTO members; there is a voluntary membership fee of $5 per person. General PTO meetings are held on the second Friday of each month.

Existing committees and PTO officer responsibilities are listed below. It is the duty of the PTO president to act as the overseer, arbitrator, and organizer to all PTO committees; this officer is the resource person for each section of the school including the Lower School, Middle School, and High School. It is the responsibility of the president to recruit and liaise with the homeroom parents.

The President is responsible for the committees that provide service to the school or community. These include:

  • Carnival
  • Holiday Festival
  • Hospitality
  • Family Nights
  • New Parent Coordinator
The Vice President oversees the following committees:
  • Book Fair
  • Spring Fundraiser
  • Field Day
  • Teacher Welcome Back Breakfast
  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • 4-H Volunteers
  • Eid Al-Adha Kaboom's Bash

The PTO officers and general body meet the second Friday of every month to discuss upcoming events, and current progress. When needed, school administration makes recommendations for activities, or policy changes regarding PTO events. The PTO's accomplishments are in large part due to the dedication of parents, and the mutual respect and cooperation of the NUIA administration, faculty, and staff. The goals of this program include facilitating communication, supporting school activities, and assisting in development of school programs.

Funds raised by the PTO have provided equipment for the PE program, paid for a fence that facilitates students to engagement in sports activities, and have been used to provide funding for the Student Government Association (SGA). This PTO has worked hand in hand with the SGA for a variety of activities including fundraising and organizing. The PTO also plans to work with the PE department to develop a Saturday or after school soccer program.
